PatientIQ

Editorial Policy

Our Editorial Principles

PatientIQ is committed to providing health information that is accurate, balanced, and written for patients — not professionals. Here is how we work.

Content Sources

All health content on PatientIQ is based on guidance from:

  • NHS.uk — the primary source for patient-facing health information
  • NICE — evidence-based clinical guidelines adapted for patient understanding
  • MHRA — medicine safety updates translated into plain English
  • Public Health England / UKHSA — public health guidance
  • Patient charities and advocacy organisations — for lived experience context

Plain English Standard

We write for a reading age of 12–14 years. We avoid medical jargon wherever possible, and explain it when we cannot. Our webinars are presented conversationally, not clinically.

Medical Disclaimer

PatientIQ provides health education — not medical advice. Nothing on this website should be used to change your treatment or self-diagnose. Always speak to your GP or healthcare team.

Sponsored Content

PatientIQ works with healthcare partners and pharmaceutical companies to fund free patient education. All sponsorships are disclosed. Sponsors do not influence what we say about conditions or treatments.

AI-Assisted Content

Some content on PatientIQ is created with AI assistance and reviewed by Dr Anzal Qurbain before publication. AI-generated Health Action Plans are templates — they should be personalised with your healthcare team.

Corrections

We correct factual errors promptly. Email [email protected] if you spot an error.
